This restored stone character property, dating from 1885, is quietly positioned within small grounds, in the little village of Skouloufia, 18 km from Rethymnon. The house is a generous 220sqm in size, and can accommodate up to 12 people. To the front of the house, and to one side of the driveway, there is a paved patio area with a small 30sqm swimming pool including a children’s pool. On the ground floor there is a traditionally furnished sitting area with corner fireplace and TV. Three steps lead up through a stone archway to a fully equipped built-in kitchen area with a large refectory style dining table, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Next to the kitchen there is a simple WC, and a utility room with washing machine. Further on this floor is the master double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath/WC, and a sitting area. The bedroom opens onto a veranda, with stone built BBQ and traditional oven. There are also two split-level family bedrooms, each with a double bed and en-suite shower/WC on the lower level, and twin beds on the upper level reached by a wooden staircase. Off the sitting area on the ground floor, a wooden staircase leads to the first floor, where there is one bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower/WC. Both family rooms and the en suite bedroom open onto a spacious 35sqm patio. The villa has a telephone for incoming calls only, and central heating for cooler spells.
The village has 2 good tavernas, a traditional kafenion and a mini market. The nearest supermarket, as well as the sandy beach of Stavromenos, is about 8 km away. Visits to the archaeological site of the ancient village Eleftherna (4 km) and the famous monastery of Arkadi (8 km) are recommended. A car is essential, and there is some parking at the villa.
